Exchange and study and research in Germany is heavily supported for Kiwis by several different organisations:

Deutscher Akademischer Austauschdienst (DAAD)
The German academic exchange service offers a range of scholarships for undgraduates, postgraduates, PhD students and staff from all disciplines in New Zealand.

Alexander von Humboldt Stiftung (AvH)
The Alexander von Humboldt Foundation supports the exchange of academics between Germany and the rest of the world. Research fellowships of various durations are awarded to distinguished scholars and scientists from all fields.

Pädagogischer Austauschdienst (PAD)
The support offered by the German Education Exchange Service is aimed at school teachers and university students who are preparing for a career in teaching. The service supports teaching and teaching assistant stays for Kiwis who want to go and teach at a German school, and German teachers who are interested in working at a NZ school.

Land Baden-Württemberg (BW)
The German federal state of Baden-Wuerttemberg provides financial support in the form of scholarships for international students who come to a Baden-Wuerttemberg university on exchange from a partner university overseas.

Here is an overview of the scholarships and events that are usually advertised each year. The links lead to short descriptions on the central DAAD website www.daad.de and  www.daad.ac.nz.

Please see www.daad.ac.nz for further information, and contact the NZ DAAD office at daad@auckland.ac.nz if you have any questions.
